DEAR 2020...

(March 2020 - July 2022)

I daily vlogged for 525 days during the COVID pandemic. Starting from the day it was declared as a global pandemic in March 2020, capturing the highs and lows of such an unprecedented time.

Originally the video diaries were personal and were never meant to be seen by anyone. This meant I was completely unedited and RAW, capturing panic attacks, glimpses of my last years in secondary school as well as the highs of the 'one walk a day' etc.

Once time had passed and the beginning of the pandemic felt like a distant memory, I began to look back at the footage. I realised just how much I'd captured and how much I personally had grown and changed during those formative years.

This is when I decided to edit together a snapshot of that period of time. Taking thousands of hours of footage and painstakingly editing it down into the 9 minute documentary that became 'Dear 2020...'.

In January 2022, 'Dear 2020…' was released to the world and while I was so happy to share it with the current world’s population, I discovered I wanted to share it with those beyond today. And that’s when I got in touch with Zoë at Wessex Film & Sound Archive, after hearing about the Making History: making movies project at an IntoFilm/WFSA workshop.

'Dear 2020...' is now part of the Wessex Film and Sound archives and I was asked to write a blog post for them, detailing more about the project which you can read HERE.
